Porchfest LA Brings Two Days of Free Music and Art to the Westside

The Westside is getting its very own Porchfest. The popular community performance art festival is expanding to Mar Vista and Culver City this fall, bringing more than 120 performers to 21 neighborhood porches, gardens, and patios on November 1 and 2, 2025.

Porchfest LA is a completely free event built on a simple idea: neighbors turning their porches into stages for musicians, comedians, storytellers, and local performers. Guests can wander on foot, bike, or drive between performances from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maps and schedules will be available online closer to the event weekend.

After a successful debut in 2024 on the Eastside, organizers say that the Westside expansion reflects strong local enthusiasm and a growing hunger for community arts experiences. Rob Kadota, Executive Director of the Mar Vista Music Project, said that the festival creates a chance for people to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy the creativity already thriving in their neighborhoods. He shared that he looks forward to experiencing Porchfest on the Westside for the first time.

The festival’s local connection grew even stronger when musician and Mar Vista Music Project volunteer Mary Beth Abella brought the idea home after performing at last year’s event in Los Feliz and Silver Lake. She said the experience helped performers connect with neighbors in an authentic way and she saw how perfect the Westside would be for a similar neighborhood gathering.

Performers will include emerging artists along with seasoned professionals. Attendees can also expect poets, stand up comics, storytellers, and a lively mix of creative acts. Porch hosts are preparing their outdoor spaces to welcome audiences and some hosts are performers themselves. Guests are invited to bring chairs or blankets and are welcome to make a donation to support the artists and porch hosts.

Porchfest LA thrives entirely through volunteer energy. Community members are stepping up to provide sound, emceeing, media outreach, lawn signage, and everything else needed to bring a grassroots festival to life. Support for this year’s event includes contributions from the Mar Vista Farmers Market, Orangewood Guitars, the Mar Vista Music Project, and Porchfest LA.

Porchfest began in Ithaca, New York, in 2007 and has since grown into a national celebration of porch culture with more than 200 Porchfests across the United States and Canada. In 2025, the Westside will officially join the tradition with a weekend of local art, music, and neighborly connection.
