what is night out for safety and liberation?
Night Out for Safety and Liberation is an annual abolitionist community gathering and an alternative to “National Night Out”.
While National Night Out celebrates policing, we believe real safety is created by neighbors who care for each other, not by armed institutions that criminalize poverty, kidnap members of our community, suppress protest, collaborate with ICE, and uphold racial and economic inequality.
Our communities already know how to keep each other safe. Every day, mutual aid groups deliver food, rapid response networks defend immigrant families, tenants organize against displacement, and labor organizers build power for working people. These are the relationships that make our communities

efforts together in one place. Join us for an evening
of food, art, community, and political education
featuring organizations from across the Westside
working to build a world beyond policing.
This event is both a celebration and a declaration. We reject copaganda and the false promise that policing creates safety. We uplift the people and organizations building safety through solidarity, mutual aid, collective care, and community power.
